First thing said: Boogies are not made for powertube distortion. Also 6L6 are beam power tetrodes, which break up later and not so even than EL34 pentodes. It is possible to get breakup, but only at ear splitting volumes. You wont get power tubes to break up, if you back down the preamp volume...

Which stripe is yours? try to find the right tubes, that fit. Dont change the bias. In my red stripe simul I run JJ EL34 in the outer sockets which run quite hot. Dont know if they changend the bias setting in the different stripes, only know the green stripes run on pentode operation in class A...

the preamp out is just before the EQ. but you can check it quite easy if you move the sliders and listen to the preamp out signal. The Slave output is taken from the speaker out, so you get the exact sound as the speakers get.

thanks, they probably were the original ones in my Mk II. I changed them some years ago and found them in some drawer.

try that (from the manual): "If your Boogie should ever lose power or die out, always first run a cable between the two Effects Jacks before proceeding to test tubes, etc., as such a problem could likely be caused by faulty switch contacts in the Effects Return Jack."
