long distance from amp = ugly tone

I don't remember exactly where I read it, but someone have called this speaker Black Widow.. Maybe I had found the only wrong article on the whole internet. If you take a look at the link below, my speaker is like the first ones in the 4x12 cab. The speaker have no marks exept a green stamped...

long distance from amp = ugly tone

As I mentioned the amp is a mk2 b head paired with an open back cab loaded with an eminence Black widow. The settings are: Presence 2 to 4 V1: 8-9 T B M: 7, 2, 5 Master: 2 Gain: 3 Lead volume: 2 Nothing is pulled. Only the pot for the lead. I'm writing on memory because I haven't the amp with...

long distance from amp = ugly tone

Well...these are more or less my conclusion.. The problem is that I set the amp standing at the audience, not on the stage...so usually my settings are presence at 2 and a heavy cut on the high frequencies, with gain around at 3.

long distance from amp = ugly tone

don't know if I'm on the right place or not but..the question is... I'm noticing a disappointing difference among the tone on the stage, at two meters from the amp, and at a longer distance. When I'm next to the amp the sound is full with a rich harmonics texture but if I stand about 5 meters...

    Marhall or Mesa stiletto ?

pay attention to the volume...they're huge and there's no master volume control. Only the 800 has something called "master volume" but it's not a really master control as in the boogies, because it dramatically affects the amount of gain and the general response of the amp.

    Marhall or Mesa stiletto ?

Hi, I've got a marshall plexi (a little modded) that I use with my mkIIB. In my opinion there are 3 marshall amps that would suit your needs. -plexi (1987-50W or 1959-100W) It's rock 'n roll. Very open and direct, or smooth as you want. You can use as it is, or with pedals. Today production have...

    new headshell for my mkIIB

thanks... this is my first attempt and I'm very happy about the final result.. now I'm planning to build the matching cab using the eminence black widow speaker which was originally loaded in the amp. I love how this speaker sounds. The original cabinet was in good conditions but it was also...

    new headshell for my mkIIB

Hi, I've been away for a while, but now there are some news. In the last days I've built a new headshell for my mkII B (combo). I've done all the work, including cabinetry and the tolex cover. A bar was also added on the back to prevent tubes damages. Here's the final result.

    Less shopping, more playing

you have to know music and your instrument in order to play what you want. but you also need the right tone to play how you want. for me, if my rig can't do what I need, my execution will suffer of that. If my rig sound well to my hears, then I can focus my attention only on what I'm playing...

WEREWOLF SONG (MARK2B tones) (with video)

eheheh... I'm pretty sure that's really difficult...even on the biggest stage. Now I'm playing almost exclusively with the acoustic guitar (hard times for the musicians, here in italy) but, some years ago, I've been out a lot with the plexi, and every night was an hard match with the planner of...
