So I've just got a purple stripe MK3 combo and the previous owner stated that the pre amp tubes were likely to be originals. It sounds great, but could do with a bit more (gain seems a bt flat, if this makes sense). Any suggestions on the make type of pre amp tube

Not easy for me to demo these used combos, but the guy selling the MK2 C says that it passes the loop test and yet the serial number (obviously) and front plate (no deep pull switch) as well as no visible + makes me sceptical. However if it is "just a C" then how does this differ from a MK3 lead...

Thanks for the feedback but I generally think there is an electrical problem as with Volume One on 4 and master between 1-3 then the channel (clean) is still with a form of distortion...even with single coils :shock:
Hi guys, newbie here and proud owner of a MK4 and newly purchased MK2C+. However, the Mk 2 is that I am struggling to get a non distorted sound on the clean channel even if the first gain/volume is set below 4. Is this likely to be a bad pre-amp tube and if so which is the one to look for...
