Mesa not going to NAMM this year...

Really wish I had read this board before going to NAMM. Not having Mesa there was a real let down. I really enjoyed talking to the amp designers last year and having folks like Andy Timmons around to chat with. A couple of Mesa folks did remind me that NAMM's booth construction prices were...

    Rectoverb clean channel...FIXED!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Series 1 never had a good clean channel, so you cannot improve it without mods. Series 2 has an excellent clean channel. One of my favorites.

    Triaxis broken knob pot

My knob broke as well. I had to buy a new one from the factory. It was $17 about four years ago.

    Rectoverbs rare?

Guitar Centers in my area always have them. Check your closest GC.

    Triaxis with a Marshall EL34 100/100

Did you get the Marshall power amp? If you like it, keep it. If you still want to experiment, get a Mesa 2:100 for comparison. The 2:100 has a bias select for 6L6/EL34s. Huge tone and lots of Marshally flavor with EL34s.

Is there any way I can turn my Mk III head into a combo?

You can save a buck or two by contacting gts on the forum. He made an excellent head shell and Thiele cabinet for my Mark III combo. I'm sure he can make the larger cabs as well. I've also read about a new front ported cab Mesa has. If you're accustomed to a 4x12 like I am, you'll really...

    TOV Tremolo question

Yep, the TOV does not use a tube tremolo. My TOV tremolo was very useful and fun, but it did not have the pulse and dynamics of a tube driven system. There are plenty of tube tremolo stomp boxes if that's what you're looking for; but to me, the TOV is great just the way it is.

Ractifier vs Recto Pre w/ Recto 2:100

The Recto Pre has an excellent clean and brit mode on channel one, similar to the Road King II and Roadster.

Mesa Rect-O-Verb vs. Roadster For Jazz & Death Metal!?

Both amps will do jazz cleans very well. The Roadster will give you louder cleans, and has an incredible Fender Bassman clean on the Tweed setting.

    DC-3 vs DC-5

I've owned both, and the DC-5 definitely has more bottom. However, I've owned two DC-3s, because that turned out to be the sound I liked the most. If I had to do it over, I'd get the DC-3 head, not the combo. You will get more clean volume with a 2x12 or 1x12 ported cab, and more clarity and...

Dual Recto sounds better from the side?

I had the same observation when doing an A/B comparison with a Recto 2x12 cab and a ported cab. The head was a Dual Rectifier. The ported cab was smaller, but the sound was massive and really brought out the best of the Dual Rectifier. I've owned two Recto cabs but my next 2x12 will be ported...

    pulling tubes for 1/2 power?

I did it with a DC-2. No problems at all. It had two power tubes, and I pulled one out.

    Rect-o-Verb Vs. Trem-o-Verb

I'd go for the Rectoverb head and cab. I had a Trem-O-Verb head, and it was great for jazz. However, the Rectoverb, even though it's 50 vs. 100 watts, will give you more clean headroom. Funny how that works, but it's true. HOWEVER, if the Rectoverb is a Series I issue, go for the T-verb...
