    TA-15 Footswitch

Will a "normally open, latching-type" switch work for the TA-15 footswitch? I'm looking at a Switch Doctor for my board, but I can't find any info on what kind of switch you need for the TA-15

Am I the only one not liking the 5 watt mode? ...misc musing

What are you playing? Chord through a single-ended amp can sound really mushy/flubby when cranked up. For me I think the 5W mode tends to sound best for lead lines (and I think that's the CW, though I may be off on that). Also, I've been looking for a schematic for the 5:25 to confirm, but I...

Becoming disenchanted with my Express 5:50

It is unfortunately a bit of a hassle to deal with Mesa - their amp designs are fairly complex, so there aren't many shops that can handle the repairs (I had to take my 5:25 in here in Portland and they wound up having to send the amp back to Mesa to get fixed). It was covered no problem, but...

New mesa express! What pedals do you like with it?

I think Class A single-ended is known for having a flabby bass, but it's the same thing that gives it that creamy overdrive . . . it's all good :-) As for pedals, I've tried everything on my Line 6 M13 and clones of a Roger Mayer Mongoose, a Tonebender MKII and a Way Huge Red Llama (the GGG...

    Express 5:25, noise help

I had a similar problem - bacon frying with an increasingly frequent (and loud) pop. Took it in - had to go back to Mesa. It was a bad screen or grid resistor (can't recall which). The hiss is still their and occasionally annoying when I'm playing low volume, but completely unnoticeable when...

    Issue with Express 5:25

sounds like a preamp tube issue - I'd trade out the burn channel tubes and see if it solves it before trading it in (unless you really want the 12")

    It's back!

My 5:25 (1x10 combo) finally came back from the shop. They had to send it back to Mesa to sort out the problem (crackling and popping). Turns out it was a bad grid resistor? Not sure what that means, but it's working fine now and much quieter than it was. So I finally got to plug it into...

can all express owners please try this and explain if poss..

The master volume is pre-loop. You record into your looper and it puts out a fixed volume level into the power amp . . . the only way to vary the looped signal is to vary the volume out on the looper.

    express series reliability issues?

thanks for the info - I can't wait to get my amp back. I just refurbed an old Peavey 2x10 cab (it's ported, so it may be an old bass cab). I put some ceramic Jensens in and it sounds incredible with a buddy's Fender Champ 600. I can't wait to try the Express through it . . . You've got me...

    express series reliability issues?

My 5:25 is currently in the shop with a problem so mysterious they had to return the chassis to Mesa to figure out what's wrong. I bought it used from a fellow that bought it off the floor at Guitar Center less than a year ago . . . My problem was crackling in both channels. Shortly before I...
