Paul pretty well nailed it. I might ad that the metal covers are removed by pushing up (toward chassis), and then a turn to the left (counterclockwise).
And when removing the old tubes, while pulling down, gently rotate in a small circle . . . kinda like pulling a cork out of a wine bottle...
Sorry, don't know how to do pic's . . .
But the front panel has 2 inouts (1 & 2),controls are Volume 1, Volume 2, Master, Treble, Bass, Middle, Presence..
I thought it had a "limit" control?
Is this a variation?
What would I use to switch between input 1 and 2 on this SOB? It would be nice to have the option of being able to switch to either 1, or 2, or have BOTH on!?
A simple A/B switch would do?
Just picked up a Son of Boogie. 60W combo with Black Shadow. Haven't recieved it yet, so I don't know if it's an EV nor do I have the serial number.
Why is this amp so besmirked by Mesa lovers?
Can I use a Mark I manual? When were they built?
Tried some searching . . . but not too much found...
Just got the amp, and re tubed with Mesas tubes. Love the tone but am having trouble dialing in a nice, smooth distortion. I play quite a bit of slide on three single coil (and sometimes 2 bucker) guitars. What I'd like to get is that slide tone of David Lindley especially on "Running on Empty".
Actually my original thought was to pull the tolex and refinish if not too much trouble for the results. Sounds like trouble, and you end up with plywood showing.
My other option was to use some black walnut I have to just manufacture a cab for the F-100. Tongue & groove like Mesa's cabs.
I've read/heard that you can take out two tubes in a push/pull 100W amp and safely turn it into a 50W amp.
True?
Which tubes? (two inside or outside?)
And should I change the speaker connection from 8ohm to 4 ohm?

My understanding is that Boogie biases all their amps so that you never have to rebias when you replace the power tubes . . . right?
But let's say I want to, or I have to because I'm in bumf*#^ Nebraska and a tube breaks and all I can get are Groove Tubes . . . which numbered value Groove Tube...
Just bought my first F-100. Just curious what they make the cabinets out of, and do you think it's nice enough to "uncover" and stain & finish?
Anyone done that?
I understand that if the wood was nice enough, they probably wouldn't have covered it.
But................... The "tolex" on this amp...
