Trying to put together a smallish rack with a Torpedo Live as a power amp and a G Major. I want/need a portable setup that is as small as possible. Torn between the Triaxis and the Studio, which is much tougher to find. What are the specs on the Studio preamp? Can't seem to find them...
Picking up a Triaxis I think but space is a strong priority for this rig. And we all know the Triaxis is probably the deepest preamp ever made LOL. Running it through a Two Notes Torpedo Live and a G-Major effects unit. What is the shallowest 4u case I can get away with?
Thanks!
1) What is the difference between the Ace and the Deuce?
2) Are there different "versions" of the Ace like there is with the Deuce?
3) How easy is it to buy parts for and install a bias adjustment?
4) Are there any other popular mods out there?
It shouldn't come as a surprise that a 70lb amp on casters wheeled over pavement and asphalt will break down over time. IME it is much easier transporting a light cab + a 35/40lb head than a boat anchor combo, but that might be just me. For the times I want to bring a 4x12, I'd rather not have...
IMHO a head is always the best option; combos are HEAVY, sound smaller, are tough on tubes, difficult to transport, tougher to maintain, next to impossible to flip, less versatile and prone to vibration damage.
No offense, but this makes absolutely no sense to me at all. There are so many incredible flavors of low/mid/high gain in this amp and the first thing you want to do is put a dirt box in front?
Thanks a bunch guys. I was pretty disappointed with the recording quality. Next time I'm bringing a little mixer and throwing a mic of my own on my cab to get a better idea as to how this amp sounds.
LOL! I think he is a photographer for the local paper--he was there for about 15m taking pics with a big old school camera. Then took a "rest" through this song and then left. I remember looking at him through the violin bow solo and thinking, "I don't think this guy is a big Zep fan..."
Thanks man--it was MkIV mode, gain around noon, mild "v" eq (everything above midway), presence, treble and mid around 2:00, bass @ 10ish. Terrible camera sound unfortunately--hopefully next time it's better. Crazy fun playing this stuff out of the Mark.
In my experience, "warm" tones can be difficult to work with in a band mix. Sound great by themselves at lower volumes, but once an amp gets to the level where it starts to naturally compress AND then add drums and bass...
