Rectifier Switch.....vacuum tubes or solid state diodes?

In my short time with my tremoverb combo I've used tube setting and spongy. I play quite Rootsy "alt.country" stuff.

THD Yellow Jackets: interfere with a Tremoverb's tremolo?

Thanks. Useful info. I'll check my manual to say what it says about the trem circuit.

THD Yellow Jackets: interfere with a Tremoverb's tremolo?

Hi Would THD Yellow Jackets interfere with (i.e. cancel) a Tremoverb's tremolo? I've read somewhere that the YJs can stop a trem functioning in some amps, depending on the circuitry. Also, has anyone used YJs? Do they work well and actually lead to both a reduction in output and good tone...

running Tremoverb at 50 watts: which tubes should I remove?

Hi That's interesting. I have the spare tubes in the pouch in the speaker cab area so maybe I'll try that at a gig i.e. play the 1st set on 50 watts and the 2nd on 100 and see what, if any, difference is perceptible. Thanks again. Wish the amp wasn't so **** heavy, by the by...

running Tremoverb at 50 watts: which tubes should I remove?

pulled out 2 power tubes and a rectifier one and everything seems fine (in the house, anyway!) so thanks again for advice. Will be gigging it a couple of times at weekend so hope it sounds like I want it to at gig levels and with a drummer. Cheers, Iain

    Removing tubes from an amp

Ah, thanks, Fabien - that IS what they're like so that's a handy tip.

    Removing tubes from an amp

Cool, thanks: that's as I thought (and how I've done it on previous amps). I was just worried in that my tremo's tubes seemed to be resisting me pulling them - they must just be in firmly, I guess! Cheers!

    Removing tubes from an amp

Hi Further to my questions about pulling tubes out of my Tremoverb (see elsewhere on theis forum) can I just check that, as the manual says, all I have to do is "grip them and rock them gently" to remove both the 2 power tubes and the rectifier tube I'd be pulling to bring the amp to 1/2 power...

running Tremoverb at 50 watts: which tubes should I remove?

Cool! Very helpful advice and nicely explained, thanks. Sounds like it's worth a try, indeed, and easy enough to reverse without hassle and/or damaging the amp. I like the idea of more "sag" and sweetness when not pushing the amp hard so seems like something I'll definitely want to try. Thanks...

running Tremoverb at 50 watts: which tubes should I remove?

Ah, the rectifier tube must be the "3rd tube" I referred to in my initial post. Thanks for that tip. Does it matter which rectifier tube I pull? So the output volume won't be greatly affected..? That's interesting. maybe I shouldn't bother pulling the tubes. What does anyone think: is it not...

running Tremoverb at 50 watts: which tubes should I remove?

Again, thanks. That helps a lot. A further question: by "drop to 4ohm" d'you mean replug the speakers into the 4ohm output on the rear? Is that all I need to do after removing the tubes?

Thanks for the tip - and the warning! I'll keep that in mind.

running Tremoverb at 50 watts: which tubes should I remove?

Hi I just registered, having just bought a 2nd hand Tremoveb combo. It sounds lovely but 100 watts is going to be too much amp for most gigs I'll play so I'm interested to read (here - thanks!) that 3 tubes (valves, even) can be pulled out to render the amp 50 watts. Which 3 should I remove? I...
