I'm currently only using the clean channel of my F-50 and using a DigiTech RP500 for all of my gain tones. Incredibly versatile setup that gives me all the tones I need at any volume.

Possible the speaker. Do you have access to another cab to try it thru. I have an F-50 Combo and I didn't like the stock Black Shadow and replaced it with a CL80.

Contour is off. I never use the contour. Don't really care for it.
