My DR has died, my poor baby...

What up, dudes. I had a tragedy occur at practice last night. Well, first off I gotta say my Dual Rectifier has had a wierd buzzing sound for the last few weeks, in all channels, even when the volume on my guitar is all the way down. I just figured it was some type of interference and blew it...

JUST ANNOUNCED! New Dual And Triple Rectifiers For 2010

I emailed Mesa asking about the output transformers on the new Rectos (from what I understand, the reason the 2 channel rectos sound different than the 3 channel Rectos is because they had different output transformers) and they are saying that the 2010 Rectos have all new output transformers...

    Dual Recto head as preamp?

Has anybody ever used a Dual Rectifier head as a preamp? How would you do that? The effects out into the input of another power amp?

So sick of my dual rec. Is a Peavey 6505+ in my future?

And, by the way guys, if you're interested in tubes and how they affect your tone - check out this link! http://www.guitaramplifierblueprinting.com/GTlink.html Great info!

So sick of my dual rec. Is a Peavey 6505+ in my future?

Thanks for all the input, guys. I've been doing some research and I think I'm going to get a Groove Tubes SAG Marshall High Gain Preamp Tube Kit. It's basically two ECC83Ss that have been tested for optimum gain, transconductance, and current, to put into V1 and V2, which are the gain stages of...

So sick of my dual rec. Is a Peavey 6505+ in my future?

I have owned a 3ch Dual Rectifier for two years now, and i'm so sick of the shrill, piercing highs... the annoying, braying mids... the flubby, sloppy bass. I have been fiddling with the EQ non-stop for two years. I have had sound guys at shows play with it, recording engineers play with it...

    getting serious...

Pulling two tubes in a DR is fine, it says so right in the manual. It doesn't matter which two you pull as long as they are the two outside ones or the two insude ones. You will also need to pull one of the rectifier tubes (it doesn't matter which one) or switch to silicone diode rectifier mode...

Just bought a recto 4x12 cab. What a waste of $899... Help?

Thanks for all the input, guys. I'm going to go to Guitar Center this weekend and spend an hour or two playing through different cabs and see if there's anything I like. But I'm like 75% sure that I'm just gonna break down and buy a quad of Celestion G12K-100s. I'll do a little research on those...

So today my Dual Rec started picking up radio stations. WTF!

Dude, that's freaky. Before I got a Furman PL-8 II power conditioner I used to pick up radio stations too - and it was always freaking spanish stations! I remember every once in a while I would pick up Morris Code, too. Try a good power conditioner and good cables.

Just bought a recto 4x12 cab. What a waste of $899... Help?

Thanks for the tips, guys. I've been playing with it all afternoon trying all of the settings recommended. Still the same problem no matter what the settings are, when I take it to a volume level that can be heard with a drummer the speakers start breaking up. I've been poking around the forum...

Just bought a recto 4x12 cab. What a waste of $899... Help?

It wasn't a floor model. They pulled it from the back, still new in a sealed box. I think I figured it out, fellas. When I turn the output down to about 9 oclock this thing sounds SWEET! Unfortunately, 9 oclock aint gonna cut it at band practice. When I turn it up to noon, I get the farting...

Using diode mode, do I need to leave rectifier tubes in?

10-4, thanks for all the replies. Does Mesa or anybody make socket covers? Just something I can stick in the socket to keep stuff from getting in there? That would be useful for everybody who's running only two power tubes and one rectifier tube as well.

Just bought a recto 4x12 cab. What a waste of $899... Help?

Before I got the recto cab I was using the Peavey 412MS with the Sheffield 1290's. I sold it to help pay for the recto. I just thought that I would get a better sound by using a matching head and cabinet and I heard so many good things about the recto cab. Big mistake. Anyway, the settings I...

Just bought a recto 4x12 cab. What a waste of $899... Help?

Aaugh god... I think I'm gonna be sick... Ok, so I think to myself what would go better with my DR than a standard recto cab, right? I mean, they were made for each other, right? So I go to Guitar Center, plop down my $960 (with tax) and take my recto cab home like a proud daddy coming home...

Using diode mode, do I need to leave rectifier tubes in?

Yeah, I noticed that they were still glowing even when switched to diode rectification. I was thinking what a shame it was to burn them out for no reason, that's why I was wondering if I could just do without them. Thanks.
