New (to me) 5:50 plus hiss

So.......have you noticed any other differences on sound when you switched out to Doug's Tubes? Did you change the pre-amp tubes too?

    Dear Mark V users

I'm curious,,,,,. for those that gig with the marl v, do you set your tones an all three channels and just switch between them while playing. I mean , when do you have time to "tweak?". I also wonder what type of pedals (if any), you use with the MatkV?

    Dear Mark V users

I have the 5:50 Express combo and although I like it, I have been gassing to upgrade to a Mark V combo for added versatility. However, of all the YouTube videos, sound clips, and postings on various boards, the issue of the long learning curve with the Mark V leaves me a bit apprehensive. My...

    Best Overdrive pedal for Express

I'm still experimenting with my Express 5:50 , and until I have the tones I want figured out I'm still stomping a Fulltone Fulldrive pedal in the clean channel when switching from clean to overdrive. The Fulltone sounded great with my Fender Princeton but sounds like a transistor radio with the...

New Mesa Express. No need for all my pedals now

I recently purchased a Mesa Express 5;50 plus and now have no need for any of my "dirt" pedals. I'm wondering for those who had similar experience , which pedals did you keep? I'm thinking just delay/chorus type, otherwise the Mesa covers everything else.

    5:25 or 5:50 dilemma

I think you nailed it with that quote. I'm a bit overwhelmed with the options on the Express , especially in contrast to my simple Fender Amp. I want to use this amp to gig with in less than a month & would like to know all the ways to get from sparkly clean to "pushed" clean to Bluesy...

    5:25 or 5:50 dilemma

Yes , They are both great amps, However I wound up with the 5:50 because the cleans rival my Fender Princeton and with more headroom. I spent three hours tonight reading the manual and playing with all the settings in both channels. I managed to dial in some amazing tones . Especially a "pushed...

    5:25 or 5:50 dilemma

I have the 5:25 plus vs. 5:50 plus dilemma. I gig about twice per month (Bars, clubs, etc.). Also practice at home (with neighbors), so I like the Watt cut on both amps. I do not venture into metal territory, mostly blues, covers, some originals, progressive rock, etc. I also have a Fender...
