    Building your own cabinets

The frequency response of the two drivers will be very similar, but the 3012lf will require around 65% of the airspace of the 3015lf. IOW the 12 will be smaller and the 15 will be louder. As far as punch that's a very subjective term for a bassist. I would suspect that youll be happy with the...

    Building your own cabinets

Sensitivity is only one of many factors. When talking about guitar sound sensitivity is a huge factor. With bass sound the quoted sensitivity is not as important. The bandwidth sensitivity is. Eminence makes it easy for you to compare drivers. Go to their website and under "resources" click on...

    Building your own cabinets

Yes i have, just do your homework prior to purchasing the drivers. I reccomend Winisd for modeling purposes. Building your own cabs can be quite rewarding. My two 112's have served me well for over a year and a half. I didn't use boogie neos, but if i had to do it again i would look hard at the...

    Search This! 8 - 16 ohms Celestion G12S-50's

you cannot wire it into an 8 ohm speaker but you can make it a 4 ohm cab with all 4 speakers in parallel. i would try that. btw measuring a speker's impedance with a multimeter only gets you in the ballpark, they are 16 ohm speakers.

    Bass compressor

i would work on your dynamics and technique. this is coming from a die-hard compressor guy. i used one for years. many different ones and they have their place, but i cut myself off for about a year and now i find i don't need one. (i'm also a big slapper as well) the best use for a compressor...

    4x12 out of phase?

if you have a speaker out of phase it will have a huge impact on your sound, i did it once by accident years ago. i think your phase issues may be more environment related (not global warming) the location of your cab relative to walls, boundries, and the size of the room. speaker placement has...

    peavey classic 50 mods

for a poor boy you could do a lot worse than a classic 50. if the amp is acting up a bit, take it to a good tech and have him give it a once over. then get a good pedal and call it a day. i used peavey classics for countless gigs and they've made me a lot of money over the years. i moved on some...

    My favorite 4x12 ;-)

yes it was 4 ev12l's. the two on the bottom are theile's and the two on the top are closed back. it was designed for arena gigs. and for guys who have roadies.

    My favorite 4x12 ;-)

nice. here's the thing that should not be. i let scottie gig this one time, and will never do so again. it was quite possibly the loudest (stage volume) gig i ever played.

Differences between 1x12 Thiele and recto 1x12?

the theile is a ported design and the recto is a standard closed back design. personally i would use the recto only if i had two of them, but a single ev loaded will handle most gigs by itself. (you'll have to find one used as mesa no longer offers the ev) just my opinion your, results will...

    Mesa Boogie Buster 200 2X10"

changing the preamp tubes won't hurt, but i doubt that's the problem. i have had that problem with an amp that had a bad power tube, but that is no guarantee that that's what's wrong with your amp. again a fuse blowing repeatedly is indicitive of a larger problem, i reccomend a tech. as far as...

    Mesa Boogie Buster 200 2X10"

could be power tubes, but if i were you i'd take the amp to a tech.

Boogie Quad vs Carvin Quad preamps

i've owned the carvin, and i play bass opposite a quad a couple of times a week. i'm pretty farmiliar with both, and i'll tell you that the carvin is pretty good, but it cannot cop the mojo of the quad. i find the sound of the quad to be superior in every way and by a large margin.

What power amp to with a studio pre?

while i don't own one, i play bass opposite a quad/siml-290 rig 2-3 times a week. i will say it is definately retarded loud, and it is also retarded heavy. however it is super tight and sounds absolutely fab. my guitarist used a 2-20 for a month or two. it was easier to get the volume down but...

Need help picking a Mesa cab

p bass with flats just says 15's to me. two single 15's or a dual 15 with that head will handle most any gig.
