I can engage R2 when I'm on the Lead channel with my Blue Stripe. AFAIK, you can engage R2 and Lead at the same time on all Mark IIIs.

A TS cable will only switch the Reverb on and off. When a TRS cable is used, the Tip switches the Reverb and the Ring switches the EQ. Not sure why it wouldn't work with a TRS cable connected to the Octa-Switch if it works with the original footswitch.

When was it last serviced? It sounds like it may need new filter caps.

I don't think the jack labeled "Input" on the back is the Power Amp input... Absolutely spot on! In all of the Mark series amps except the Mark V, the EQ is after the FX loop. In the Mark V, the EQ is before the loop. Also, as the JP-2C shares the same circuitry as the Mark IIC+, the EQ is also after the loop on that one.
